Important: Track racing requires that riders using a 24” unicycle use a specific configuration. Generally, a 24” muni is not legal for track racing. NAUCC uses a box to measure 24” wheels and confirm they meet the standard. Want to confirm your unicycle is legal before track day? The measuring box will be available both when you check-in to NAUCC and at the track. You may use a unicycle smaller than 24", though this might put you at a disadvantage in the event.
Required Safety Gear: Shoes, knee pads, and gloves. Helmets are strongly recommended. Your race number must be clearly visible on your chest
Be Ready for Your Race: Races will not run on a fixed schedule, but rather in sequence. You should arrive at the start time on the schdedule and be prepared to race when your group is callled. Track races are run from longer races to shorter races, and we will use the following order: 800m, 400m, 100m, 50m one-foot, 30m wheel walk, and 10m wheel walk (for 0-10 year olds). Competitors are grouped by age groups (determined by the number of registrants), and males and females compete in separate divisions. FlatX2 is a new flatland competition for NAUCC 2025! We are excited to bring this new variation of the flatland competition in which riders will face off in a "2 v 2" format. Two riders on one team will compete against another team of two riders, essentially meaning a "two-on-two" matchup for flatland battles. Riders are judged based on the level of technical difficulty and variety, as well as combinations and transitions between skills. The judges determine the winning team of each battle immediately after the battle ends.
Rules: Teams will be randomly assigned. There will be no preliminary round, only a randomized bracket. 2 minutes per team with “Chess timer” format. Your time begins immediately when the opposing team raises their hands. 4 total last trick attempts per team, one trick per rider counts if landed. Riding synced is allowed, but a similar trick must be completed by both riders for it to count. Each non participating team has one vote for each battle. Judges should penalize teams who don’t share time equally. Judging criteria below should be used as a reference for teams during competition.
Judging Criteria: Preliminary rounds and battles are judged using the following criteria. Each category is scored out of 10 points, except Last Trick, and weighted differently: Difficulty (25% of score): Score is given for technical difficulty of the tricks and combos landed during the battle/preliminary. Consistency (23% of score): Score is given for number of landed trick/combos on total of number of tricks/combos attempted during the battle/preliminary. Flow (20% of score): Score is given for cleanliness and style of rider during the battle/preliminary. Variety (18% of score): Score is given for variation in the types of tricks done during the battle/preliminary. Last Trick (14% of score): Score is given for technical difficulty, novelty, creativity, and now. The rider is not obligated to use all attempts or to try the same trick every attempt. Only the last attempt will be scored. Other failed attempts do not subtract from the score. Guide on how to score points for last trick:
0 point: nothing landed or unworthy trick
1 point: passable trick
2 point: okay trick
3 points: good trick
4 points: great trick
5 points: insane trick
