Workshops are a friendly and non-competitive way to develop your skills with some of the best riders and coaches in North America. 

These free sessions are open to all registered riders – both competitors and non-competitors.

I’m New to NAUCC!

Is this your first NAUCC? We’re so happy you’re here! In this informal workshop, we’ll answer your questions and give you guidance about how to make the most of your week. Perhaps you have questions about specific events – how they work, what wheel size works best, how they’re judged, what you should bring, etc. Maybe you’d like us to help guide you towards events and workshops you may enjoy, even though you didn’t initially sign up for them. Bring your questions! We’ll answer them, and if we can’t, we’ll connect you to the people who can.

Beginner Flatland Workshop 

4:30 – 6:00 p.m.

Have you watched Flatland and wondered how to get started? Or perhaps you have some of the basic skills down but want to know how to put them together. This workshop is for all beginners; no Flatland experience is necessary. This is an open house-style workshop, so feel free to come and go! Meet up with Scott Julian at the Kennedy High School Parking Lot.

Freestyle Skill Level Testing

6:30 – 7:00 p.m.

Have you been working on your Freestyle Skills and would like to test for your next level? Freestyle Skill Level Testing will be available in the Open Gym. Riders may test once per day, per level. (Testing will also be available on Monday, July 17 from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, July 18 from 8:00 - 9:00 a.m.)

Freestyle Judging Workshop 

8:00 – 9:00 a.m.

Kennedy High School Gyms B/C


All are welcome! This workshop is a great way for both competitors and audience members to learn what makes a successful Freestyle routine. This workshop is recommended for anyone who wants to learn more about the components of a Freestyle competition, and is required for anyone who wants to be a NAUCC Freestyle Judge. (Please note the minimum age to be a judge is 14, but all ages are welcome to attend the workshop.)  

Unicycle Games

12:30  – 1:30 p.m.

Join us for the it’s-always-a-favorite unicycle games! Riders of all abilities are welcome for traditional outdoor games (think “tag” and “sharks and minnows”), played on unicycles.

Flatland Levels Clinic and Testing 

2:00 – 4:00 p.m.

This workshop will be led by two USA Flatland Level-certified testers – Dale Grzych and Scott Julian. Riders of all skill levels are welcome! Whether you’re not yet familiar with the Flatland Levels, or you’ve been working on the skills and are ready to test, please join us. Meet in Lobby


Are you interested in becoming a certified Freestyle Level Tester? This clinic is for you. To pass a level, riders must adhere to the specific standards for that level. In this clinic, you'll understand both what your responsibilities are as a Tester and learn the specific details of how each skill is meant to be performed.

Open Flatland Coaching

This is an open Flatland practice! All riders are welcome, especially beginning and intermediate unicyclists. Working on a skill? Trying to understand how to put a series of tricks together? Want to test for the next Flatland Level? Just want to try something new? This is your opportunity!

Briefing for Advanced and Jr. Expert Flatland Competitors

5:00 – 5:30 p.m.

This pre-competition session is specifically for Jr. Expert and Advanced Flatland Comp riders. Scott will help you understand the criteria the judges use to score your runs and battles. He’ll also show you how to put together a good preliminary run and how to best compete in a battle.

Unicycle Society of America (USA) Annual Meeting

All are welcome! Join us as we review the year behind us, conduct our annual elections, and look forward with excitement to the year ahead. For the first time in twenty years, UNICON returns to the United States! In July 2024, Bemidji, Minnesota will host UNICON XXI. Don’t miss this important meeting, hosted by Kirsten Goldstein and the USA Board of Directors.

Learn How to Pedal Grind Workshop

Are you looking to learn a basic Street skill? Do you want to be more comfortable using the obstacles in a skatepark? One of the most integral tricks of street riding is the pedal grind.  Come and join Scott Julian at the Burnsville Skate Park for this workshop, which will most benefit riders who are comfortable with both riding and controlled hopping. 

Briefing for Advanced and Jr. Expert Street Competitors

12:00 - 12:30 p.m. 

Burnsville Lions Skate Park


This pre-competition session is specifically for Advanced and Jr. Expert Street Comp riders. Scott will help you understand what the judges are looking for, how “flow” enters into judging, and how you can use more of the skatepark than you think you can. This session will help you create a good Street Comp run using the obstacles you’re comfortable with.

Final Party and Awards

Grab your own dinner and beverage (no glass bottles or containers, please) and join us for the final party! Parking is available in lots and nearby on the street.
